What to Pack For a Caribbean Trip

As the days closed on me leaving for my trip. I struggled to figure out what I was going to pack, as this is my first international travel experience.  I was traveling to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I wasn’t sure what were the essentials needed to ensure that I would have everything in my suitcase.  You know I’m talking about clothes.  Anytime I pack I always end up packing way too much because I need options and there is nothing wrong with a girl having options.

Here’s a list of the clothing items that I brought along with me on my trip:

  • 3 dresses/rompers for dinner
  • 5 pair of sandals to coordinate with various swimsuits, rompers, and dresses
  • Outfit to travel home in (something home weather appropriate)
  • 2 tank tops
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 6 swimsuits (I needed options)
  • Gym shoes (excursions)
  • Bookbag
  • Small crossbody purse
  • Fanny pack
  • Sunglasses galore

I believe that overall I was pretty prepared for the trip but next time I will be adding to the suitcase.  I would bring extra tops and bottoms just to be able to throw something on for breakfast or shopping.  I would also pack different flip flops (or slides) that coordinate with the swimsuits more because it was difficult sometimes to put on sandals after leaving the beach when there is sand on your feet.

Obviously, I took the toiletries that I usually travel with but I added sunscreen to the list, because everybody burns.

Be on the lookout for the next blog which features some of the clothes I wore on the trip.
