When I heard about the WGCI: Big Jam 2015 back in August I knew I wanted to attend it because I’ve always wanted to see Monica and Future perform live. My only problem was that I didn’t have anyone to attend the concert with. Sometimes being single sucks and this was one of those times. My friend Joi and I decided to go together since we were both in the same predicament.
The concert started at 6 p.m. and went all the way until after 11 p.m. We got a chance to see Vic Mensa, Twista and Do or Die, Rae Sremmurd, Omarion, Dej Loaf, Monica, Meek Mill, Future, and Kendrick Lamar perform live. I even had to opportunity to Meet & Greet Monica.
Since, I was attending a concert I wanted to be somewhat casual. While I was on Instagram one day I clicked on search tab and while looking at the “Explore Post” section I clicked on someone’s post that lead me to one page which took me to another page, you guys know how that goes, and I eventually ended up on a New York based stylist named Shun Melson. Not only does she style celebrities such as Kandy Burruss, Fantasia, just to name a few, she also designs her own line of t-shirts. These shirts are awesome and have great messages on them. Check them out at http://www.shunmelson.com.
I purchased her shirt with the message “Not my competition,” which means a lot to me. Nowadays females are always too busy competing with the next female when they should be trying to promote and empower each other. The message was strong and really needed no explanation. At the end of August I purchased a long faux fur vest from H & M and really didn’t know how I would style it. But once I saw the t-shirt I knew it would be perfect for the vest, Shun also added some inspiration to the outfit. I matched the vest and top with a pair of black jeans and strappy camel pointed-toe heels. The look was completed with my folding leopard clutch from Express, my handmade neutral colored choker necklace, and gold teardrop earrings.
The experience was amazing and I can’t wait to attend my next concert.
