Horace Mann Alumni Weekend: Something New…

This year the Horace Mann All Class Committee chose an all-white theme for the dance.  When I found out I immediately began looking for something to wear to the dance because I knew if I wait too later white would be hard to find.  I started online of course because that my favorite pastime, online shopping.

After searching for about a week or two, I found two dresses that were contenders for me to wear.  Each dress was on opposite ends of the spectrum.  One was similar to the dress I had just wore in a fashion show in June and the other was a more casual midi skater dress.  The closer the date approached the more I realized I had to make a decision on a dress.

I decided to go to the dance more dressed up.  The dress I decided to wear was a white mini dress with sequins and beads throughout it.    Since the dress was so detailed I knew everything I wore with it had to be simple.  I purchased a pair of single-sole silver heels to compliment the dress.  The day of the event I thought I needed a few simple accessories to accent the dress.  I found the perfect pair of floating teardrop stud earrings and a crystal accented adjustable bracelet.  Satisfied I left the mall and went home to rest for the night.  I pinned my faux locs in an elegant braided bun that fell onto my forehead and added some dark lips with my smoked out makeup.

Everything about the night came together great but my only regret is not buying a necklace.  I originally thought the dress was a turtleneck style dress but in actuality it had a rounded neckline.  Despite missing that detail I still made the dress look great!
