Challenge Complete

I have officially completed the 30 for 30 Challenge that was originally created by Kendi Skeen in 2010. The 30 for 30 Fashion Challenge is taking 30 pieces of clothing, that you already have in your closet, and remixing them into 30 outfits for 30 days without repeating a outfit. After completing this challenge I can say I learned a lot about my wardrobe and myself.

HOW DID I PREPARE FOR THE CHALLENGE?

Before the challenge I created a spreadsheet of 30 different outfits but I did not like all of the outfits created. So each night, I simply had to look at the spreadsheet, pick an outfit I wanted to wear the next day, and then retrieve the clothes from my closet. It made getting ready for work effortlessly. Finally, I was able to use a lot more of my accessories with the outfits because I had more time at night to think about what pieces would look right with certain outfits.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

This challenge has taught me that when I like an article of clothing I tend to purchase it in several different colors. It has also taught me that I have very little discipline when it comes to shopping. I was able to keep my shopping to only purchasing items that I need for the fashion show but I did buy two or three pieces that were not associated with the fashion show or the wedding.

I also learned that I really don’t like buying tops containing patterns and that I buy a lot of outfit specific items. I do not buy many pieces that I could use to create several different outfits. I really need to work on buy clothes that I can remix into several different outfits because I am attempting to minimize my shopping and I know that an easy solution.

WOULD I DO THE CHALLENGE AGAIN?

Yes, I’m considering participating in the challenge again in November just to see how I can remix some winter items.  I’m also curious to see if I can change my shopping patterns up by then.

I also will be on the lookout for other challenges that I would be interested in completing. I’m happy I stumbled across this challenge because it has taught me so much about my wardrobe.

Here’s a recap of the outfits from 1 through 30.
